Colloquially, a twitch is an avid bird watcher that keeps their eyes peeled for birds, competitively ticking sightings off a comprehensive species list for any area. Literally, a twitch is a “twinge of body or mind”- the kind of twinge of recognition I experience in the city upon realising, again, that I can hear nor see any native birds.

The Urban Twitch is repopulating the city with birds made of city stuff: road-signs, cardboard & money.

As a keen admirer of Darwin’s theory & of the beautiful absurdity of amateur science, I see U.T as speculative proposition rather than a criticism of our current state - ET
